Welcome to Il Poggio, an Italian castle in tantalizing Tuscany. Rarely does a property unite the fantasy of a classic fairytale and a 21st-century vacation experience in such style. With seven spacious, light-filled bedrooms, and comfortably sleeping 13 guests, you can enjoy being king or queen of your vast domain.
The extensive grounds, manicured gardens, and private pool offer the space to relax and sink into the natural beauty of the Tuscan hills. The views from the Castle terrace and grounds are just what you would wish for in the romantic heart of Italy. Rolling, green hills, pretty farmhouses, olive groves, the ubiquitous cypresses standing guard over a landscape older than time.
Exquisitely private, Il Poggio is a self-contained Castello a short drive from Florence. The ground floor has a gym, billiard table, and entrance hall with access to the garden and outdoor spaces.
The first floor has a stately living room with a large fireplace. Beautifully furnished, this is an attractive place to meet for aperitifs or unwind after a sumptuous Tuscan-inspired dinner. The kitchen, dining room, breakfast room, and a study with TV and fireplace are also on this floor.
In addition, there is access from the living room to a large, south-facing terrace. With views across the gardens and the hills beyond, this is one of the most beloved outdoor spaces in the Castle.
Guests can access the pool terrace from the first floor, framed in sleek Pietra Serena tiles. The pool, which can be heated on request, operates a saltwater system and is over 100 meters square. There's an adjacent pool house too. A shaded outdoor dining area is located on this side of the Castello. The perfect location for lazy lunches or dinners relaxing under a star-filled Italian sky.
Two of Il Poggio's bedrooms and bathrooms are located on the first floor, with four bedrooms on the second floor and two bathrooms. The fifth bedroom is in the spectacular tower, accessed by a staircase from the second floor.
The interiors reflect the history and style of the property. Soft tones that reference the colors of Tuscany – greens, blues, and terracotta hues – work exquisitely with the polished floors and decorative rugs. The classically inspired furniture is very much at home in the stately rooms.
Two added special features are a pretty little chapel. The other is a Limonaia – what would be called an Orangery in England. You don't need to be deeply spiritual to sit in either space, but they create that perfect contemplative atmosphere for meditation.
The gym on the ground floor is useful for keeping those gelato calories at bay. Morning yoga on the sunny terrace or by the pool is another way to upgrade your well-being and be at one with nature.

LOCATION:
Il Poggio, an Italian Castello standing on the site of an old fortress, is the perfect setting from which to embrace the charm and elegance of Tuscany. Considered one of the most beautiful geographic destinations in the world, this large region of Italy is home to the magnificent city of Florence. The birthplace of the Renaissance, you will delight in wandering the ancient streets, exploring the Uffizi gallery, and admiring sculptures, paintings, and churches. The Duomo might be monumental but don't overlook the Church of Santa Croce, the resting place of Michelangelo.
It's not all monuments and antiquities; any scientist of note will want to visit the museum dedicated to the polymath Galileo, the father of modern science.
Florence operates as a modern city too. Divine shopping is all around. Prada, Dolce and Gabbana, Versace, Armani, and Gucci are the monuments attracting true fashionistas. So prepare to be tempted in this gorgeous city.
Food is inspired throughout the region. You will delight in foraging in local shops for cured meats, luscious fruit, and vegetables. The region's bread is flavorsome, the perfect vehicle for rich olive oil, and the perfect accompaniment to local wines. From the full-bodied red of Chianti Classico to the refreshing Vernaccia white and every other option, Tuscan vineyards welcome visitors for memorable wine tastings.
Other amazing destinations within Tuscany are the towers of San Gimignano and the golden city of Siena. In addition, Pisa and Lucca, two pretty towns close to the Tuscan coastline, are a worthy day trip. Still, whether you choose to hit all the landmarks of this Italian region or take magical mystery tours through hilltop villages and towns, stopping here and there for decadent or simple lunches, there's one true thing: you will never be bored, you will never be underwhelmed, and you will never want this incredible vacation in Tuscany to end! Moreover, Florence may have been the birthplace of the Renaissance – why not embrace your own''rebirt'' under the alluring spell of Il Poggio?
