Harbour Island is a virtually undiscovered and un spoilt piece of paradise located just 15 minutes flying time from nearby Nassau. The two places couldn't be more different.

While Nassau and its neighboring Paradise Island are perfect for people looking for fun, entertainment and activity, Harbour Island is old school glamour and incredibly chic in understated and relaxed feet in the sand vibe.

Harbour Island is tiny. It is just 3.5 miles in length and 1.5 miles in width, but for such a tiny island, it has an incredible choice of Harbour Island Rentals. Harbour Island has its location just northwest of its neighboring Eleuthera Island.

As there is no airport on Harbour Island, everyone arriving flies into nearby Eleuthera. But the journey is simple.

Pink Sands Beach

A short taxi ride followed by a speed water taxi brings you to this exquisite piece of paradise. Harbour Island is famous for many things, but ultimately, many visitors come to enjoy its unimaginably perfect coral beach called Pink Sands Beach.

Pink Sands Beach is one of the Best Beaches in the Bahamas. Many reliable sources have also voted it as the world's best beach; Pink Sands Beach stretches the entire length of the eastern shore of the island.

Pink Sands Beach has possibly the softest sand you will ever walk on in your entire life. The beach feels endless and is over 3 miles long and up to 100 feet wide in parts.

The sand has a beautiful pink hue and has some of the most turquoise crystal-clear waters imaginable. There are lots of restaurants and bars where you can enjoy a leisurely lunch or dinner with breathtaking views of the beach and ocean. Some of these include the Dunmore Hotel, Lattitude 25, The Blue Bar Restaurant at The Pink Sands Resort and Sip Sip Restaurant.

The west coast of Harbour Island is dotted with small cove and private marinas and is home to much of the island’s marine life such as turtles and stingrays.

The understated old Bahamian luxury of Harbour Island attracts some of the world’s most recognisable faces to its shores. They come for its beauty, privacy and laid-back atmosphere, which they find hard to come by in their everyday lives. Dunmore Town

The central hub of Harbour Island is Dunmore Town which is also the location for many of the islands excellent relaxed restaurants, shops and bars.

Dunmore Town has an interesting history. Named after Lord Dunmore who was Governor between 1786 and 1797, it is one of the oldest settlements in the Bahamas. The town is full of pretty, pastel buildings and has a quaint New England architecture.

Harbour Islands charm

In many ways, time has stood still in Harbour Island. It has no high rises, no golf courses and no casinos, which is also one of the main attractions of this laid back and peaceful piece of paradise.

Visitors 25 years ago were surprised to see that the primary mode of transport was by golf buggy. Visitors today are amazed and delighted to know that it is still the primary mode of transportation.

Kings View Villa is one of our most luxurious Harbour Island beachfront villas. It has its location on the western shore of Harbour Island overlooking the island of Eleuthera and a short golf buggy drive to the famous Pink Sands Beach.

With eight bedrooms, it is the perfect choice for families and extended families who want plenty of space and amenities combined with a high level of luxury.

The interiors are incredibly luxurious yet extremely relaxed, ensuring its visitors have an overwhelming sense of calm as soon as they enter the doors. Kings View Villa has its own private beach cove, a long narrow private swimming pool, plunge pool, cinema room and a fully equipped gymnasium.

LA PALMERAIE HARBOUR ISLAND

La Palmeraie is another firm favourite of our guests and Bahamas Villa experts. It is a nine-bedroom contemporary mansion located directly on the famous Pink Sands Beach. The location simply doesn't come any better than this.

La Palmeraie has a vast living area with floor to ceiling windows that lead directly onto the pool deck and terrace. The heated infinity swimming pool at La Palmeraie is one of the largest and most beautiful in our Bahamas Villas collection.

Super comfortable sunbeds surround the swimming pool, and wooden steps bring you from the pool terrace directly onto Pink Sands Beach. From here it's possible to walk the full length of the exquisite beach.

The architecture of this five-bedroom villa is reminiscent of a classic English Georgian home. Windwhislte has beautiful mature gardens full of sweet-smelling tropical flowers.

The gardens sweep down to the swimming pool and private beach cove which is perfect for swimming. Windwhistle Villa Harbour Island has its private boat dock making it the ideal choice for anyone who loves spending time on the water or fishing.

SEA SIREN VILLA HARBOUR ISLAND

Sea Siren is another stunning Harbour Island Rental that we can highly recommend. Not only has Sea Siren one of the best locations on Pink Sands Beach, but it is also very luxurious and chic in a laidback Bahamian way.

With six bedrooms in total, Sea Siren can comfortably sleep up to twelve people. The accommodation is split between the main house and a separate guest cottage. Both of them are self-contained with fully equipped kitchens for added convenience.
