Further up the east coast, Taormina is one of the best-known towns on the island, situated on top of Mount Tauro. The town's height offers panoramic views from Mount Etna's smouldering peak down too far below sparkling sea. The city also features details from its storied past, laying home to some of the most iconic Greek Theaters globally, which host the town's annual art and film festival, 'Taormina Arte'. In addition, Taormina has a significant number of terrific restaurants, entertainment, and clubs to cater to the growing number of tourists that visit each year.

The towns of Syracuse and Noto are located much closer to Villa Delphina and are great options for an afternoon excursion. Syracuse is another town known for its incredible architecture. Wandering through the streets of Ortigia will lead you to the impressive baroque cathedral and the historical temple of Athena. The site of the Greek legend, the fountain of Arethusa, should not be missed.

The town of Noto lies adjacent to the beautiful unspoiled beaches of Calamosche, Eloro and Cittadella within the Vendicardi natural reserve, which is the habitat of thousands of migrating flamingos and sea turtles nests. Each year in the third week of May, Noto becomes awash with colour during the "Infiorata" festival, where local artists work through the night to carpet the streets with vibrant flowers. While visiting the town, be sure to venture into Noto Antica, the older town, or to the necropolis at Pantalica and the Ispica Caves.
