St Croix

St. Croix is the largest of the US Virgin Islands at 82 square miles in area and consists of two distinct towns; Christiansted and Frederiksted. St. Croix's Danish influence is perfect for visitors who prefer a laid-back experience.

The historic towns of Frederiksted and Christiansted offer quaint shops, charming pastel buildings and refreshing cultural diversity. From horseback riding near 18th-century sugar mills to playing golf on one of the island's three scenic golf courses, you're sure to find something to suit your tastes.

Frederiksted has some lovely shops and also has a tropical Rain Forest and Whim Great house, a plantation restored to the way it was in the 1700s. The city of Christiansted has fine galleries, shops and restaurants.

The towns of Christiansted and Fredriksted each have their own distinctive style; together they are the Twin Cities and are a must-see.

St Croix has fine hotels, excellent dining, stunning scenery, sights to see,  and some beautiful beaches.

St Croix has two wonderful golf courses. The Reef Golf Course is a 9-hole course set in the valley on beautiful Teague Bay on the north-eastern part of St Croix. The more famous par-72 Carambola golf course was designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., one of the most highly respected designers of the 20th century.   Carambola opened in 1966 to rave reviews and was considered by the master designer himself to be one of his finest courses.

St. George Village Botanical Garden

St. George Village Botanical Garden of St. Croix is located on a sixteen acre site just off the Queen Mary Highway. The botanical collections, including over 1500 native and exotic species and varieties, are established in and around the restored buildings and stabilized ruins of a 19th century Danish sugar cane plantation.

Gecko’s Island Adventures

Gecko's Island Adventures is an ATV tour that lasts approximately 1 1/2 -2 hours and covers 13 miles of tropical terrain. It begins by riding along the west end coast before heading up into the hills.  You then make a stop that gives you fantastic views of the north shore. As you continue, you make your way to the top of Mt. Stewart where you see panoramic views of the surrounding ocean.

You will also have an opportunity to visit plantation ruins from the early 1800’s where you get time to explore and take photographs. From there you will descend through the sub-tropic Rain Forrest before ending the tour at a local beach with an onsite restaurant/bar.

Horse Riding

There is no better way to go horse riding than on the beach. The best tropical trail ride includes a ride along the beach to enjoy the sandy shore, the blues of the sea, and the picturesque coconut trees rising tall in the background.

This ride also includes a nature tour to the rain forest, through the ruins of an historic slave village, then across the country pastures with gigantic Rain Trees, plus scenic hill top views. Approximately a 1.5 hour tour, with an extra half-hour for check-in and mounting. Rides are available for families and people of all ages.   Private rides by special request can be arranged at additional cost with several days notice
