Welcome to Owenmore Cottage, a six-bedroom luxury cottage on the Ballynahinch Castle Estate, a Relais and Chateaux property in the heart of County Galway.

This vacation home is set across one level and has a footprint of 3,000 square feet and is a beautiful refuge of peace and tranquillity. The lush mature trees of the Castle estate provide a secluded feel to this charming cottage, yet you are only a three-minute walk from the Castle and all its amenities.

Owenmore Cottage, named for the river flowing through the estate, is light and airy. Rooms decorated in soft tones create a restful and cozy foundation for a memorable Irish getaway.

This country cottage was recently refurbished. The six bedrooms are laid out, with each pair of a king or twin bedrooms sharing a bathroom. Two bathrooms have bathtubs with showers, while the third bathroom has a spacious walk-in shower.

You have a fully-equipped kitchen, ideal for creating memorable family meals. Curling up with a good book after dinner in the large living room with the crackling wood-burning stove is divine. With sunsets in high-summer running as late as 10pm, barbecues on your private veranda can morph into chill-out events, sipping an Irish coffee while listening to the stillness of dusk.

The mature gardens are a dream of green velvet lawns and floral borders filled with lavender and other scented blooms. You will enjoy dozing in the sun to the sound of the happy fat bees that float by.

The Ballynahinch Castle demesne that surrounds the Cottage is vast. With 700 acres of woodland, lakes, rivers, and hills, you and your family will enjoy the endless joy of following walking or biking trails around your Cottage. Guided walks or more strenuous hikes can ramp up this experience with the benefit of wonderful local knowledge.

You can forage the ingredients for lazy lunches from nearby farmer's markets and shops. Fresh seafood makes the shortest trip from sea to plate. The grass-fed meats of Connemara are unparalleled in flavor. The quality and diversity of seasonal produce available will wow vegetarians and vegans.

If all this talk of hunting/gathering is taking the shine off your vacation plans, make the small pilgrimage to the Castle each day and let the excellent chefs tantalize your tastebuds with their clever creations. The Castle's Fisherman's Pub is a relaxed space that families love. Roaring turf fires, pints of Guinness, and a nip or two of local whiskey are the order of the day.

For a grander, more celebratory experience, the Owenmore Restaurant, with stunning views over the river, might be a perfect choice. That heavenly three-minute post-dinner walk back to your cozy Cottage when you become one with the Irish night is truly magical.

The Castle can provide an additional fee for a family-style dinner at the Owenmore Cottage. Also, a picnic can be boxed for you if you want to dine alfresco when exploring the beauty of Connemara.
