Villa Nau is located on the top floor of a four-floor apartment complex. Once you climb to the top and turn the key in the door, every step is forgotten when you enter. The interior mirrors the splendour that the city displays; elegant furnishings dress the beautifully designed penthouse, white walls and blond woods accented with beautiful décor. The social spaces of the villa located on the top floor; lounge, dining room and kitchen are all located under the one ceiling, stout wood beams creating a lofty, airy space that enjoys lots of natural light. Comfortable couches and chairs face towards the widescreen TV, which is, after spending a day exploring the enchanting streets of the city below you, an attractive option to take a breather and relax. The dining table, with seating for eight, sits adjacent to the lounge area.

Alternatively, for the alfresco experience in Florence, the dining table on the terrace, surrounded by soft lighting and the ambience of the city, makes for a high-end restaurant experience in the comfort and privacy of the villa. Marvellous cityscape sunsets are on display on either side, and minimal urban noise reaching the top floor, so once you’ve had your fill of the gorgeous scenery, you can relax in peace and quiet, and enjoy good company without interruptions or disturbances.

The fully equipped kitchen makes full use of the space allocated, and modern appliances and sleek cabinetry make for an efficient workspace. Whether you decide you want to prepare dinner for you and yours, or leave it in the hands of a practised chef and enjoy Italian cuisine from the comfort of the villa, the kitchen can handle any culinary challenge asked of it.

Both terraces that Nau possesses are accessible through the glass doors on either side of the open-plan great room. Spectacular panoramic views of the city are afforded to guests of the villa, with a birds’ eye view of the fantastic skyline; spiralling towers and domes, detailed stonework and architecture and many sights that would be lost while walking the streets are visible from the balcony; a small table and chairs on the terrace make for the perfect spot to enjoy a morning coffee while watching the sun illuminate the city.

A two-bedroom residence, the villa has a capacity of four people. Both bedrooms are dressed palatially, with high-quality linens on luxurious queen-sized beds, and with the added feature of manually controlled air conditioning, a restful and rejuvenating night of sleep is guaranteed. Both bedrooms have access to their own en-suite or dedicated bathroom.

Villa Nau is centrally located in one of Italy’s most famous cities, Florence; the most populated city and capital of Tuscany and an ancient Roman stronghold in its inception, the city is now a loving tribute to the Renaissance between the 14th and 17th centuries, and a thriving metropolis today. For lovers of art and history and ancient architecture, Florence is a Mecca for them all, as well as the surrounding Tuscan countryside. Architectural and artistic wonders are on display in its many basilicas, churches, museums and castles. The Uffizi Gallery is a must-see for anyone interested in the works of the old masters, where works of Botticelli are on display. Villa Nau gives guests a privileged insight into the daily hustle and bustle of the city, from early morning to the close of day. Many of these locations are within walking distance of the villa.

Should you decide to go further afield into the Tuscan countryside, there are a plethora of destinations that could make the list; often overlooked but no less beautiful, the city of Pistoia to the north-west contains many more important historical landmarks, as well as an ample supply of shops, restaurants, bars and nightclubs to sample on your exploration into Italian culture.
