The villa sits right in front of the sweeping sands of Flamands Beach, commanding a spectacular view of the ocean, as well as the surrounding terrain, more than deserving of its name. Boasting spectacular views of the horizon and smaller islands in the distance, framed by tall leafy palms, it will take no time at all to settle into vacation mode.

This sizeable villa draws on a more contemporary slant in its design; monochrome palettes with floor-to-ceiling windows draw the colour from the outside in, and an ever-dynamic burst of vibrant blue, readily available through the glass each day. The open-concept floor plan of the villa lends itself well to social gatherings, accommodating a full cohort of guests with room to spare – there are several living areas, dining areas, both inside and out, as well as a fully equipped kitchen that can handle anything from a quick lunch to a full course meal. Leave the cooking to the hands of a professional chef, and the aromas and flavours of delicious Caribbean cuisine will draw everyone to the table in record time.

Indoor-Outdoor living is fully embraced by Maison de la Mer, with outdoor lounge and dining options, the best seats in the house to soak in the marvellous seascape. Better still, soak in the view more literally, and take the plunge into the cool waters of the pool to revitalize the body, especially after a spell of sunbathing. If the pool is too placid for your liking, take the steps down to the beach and into the waves of Flamand's crystal-clear water.

All six bedrooms in the villa are given the palatial treatment, a luxurious king-size bed outfitted to each. Complete their own en-suite bathrooms, privacy and comfort are guaranteed for the duration of your stay. Several of the rooms have access to a private rooftop terrace, on the next level – equipped with comfortable chairs and loungers to enjoy them properly.

The western side of St. Barth’s holds Gustavia, the capital of the island; a short drive from the villa, Gustavia hosts plenty of shops, bars and restaurants, to allow guests have their fill of retail therapy, experience the nightlife, sample the local cuisine, and for those with a keen interest in the past life of the island, explore some of the distinctive histories of St. Barth’s - a good place to begin would be Gustavia itself, where the influences of past ruling countries still remain today; Fort Karl, a former military outpost, was left by the Swedish to protect the island in the 1700s. The small size of the island also makes many of its finest features even more accessible; this makes it easy to explore it in a matter of a few days.
