Welcome to Cleante, a lovingly restored villa that was once a farmhouse in a former life, overlooking the beautiful rolling hills and valleys of Italy’s green heart, in Umbria.
Nestled into the side of a sloping hill, Villa Cleante’s views are magnificent, rolling hills and valleys populated with forestry as far as the eye can see. An expansive landscaped garden surrounds the villa on all sides, giving way to the wild gorse and shrubbery that define its borders. Rich in variety, the plants and trees that dot the verdant lawns are mature and well maintained, allowing the property to blend into the landscape, as if it had always been there. Having been recently restored from a centuries-old farmhouse, with much of its original stonework and roofing preserved, architects and designers have combined these with modern conveniences and technology with discretion, to maintain the aesthetic of the original building.
Comprising of two divided units and a detached cottage, the main villa features a wraparound terrace has been furnished with various outdoor furniture, including comfy couches to lounge in and enjoy the ambience of the Italian countryside, as well as table and chairs to sit and enjoy your meal with the gorgeous landscape as your backdrop. Situated just a few steps from the villa, a private infinity edge swimming pool, surrounded by sun loungers, is the perfect remedy to keeping the heat at bay and enjoying fun in the sun while remaining cool. A jacuzzi hot tub sits adjacent to the pool, and both are fitted with a water heating function, to take the chill out of the water if you take a fancy for an evening swim.
Indoors, the rustic, homely aesthetic of the villa comes to life; the villa enjoys several lounge spaces for guests to relax and spread out in comfort. White walls, terracotta tiles and soft lighting all contribute to a warm and welcoming atmosphere, inviting all who enter to make themselves at home. Plush couches fill both lounges, making great gathering spots for entertaining and casual conversation in comfortable settings, and access to the terrace and lawns through the patio doors. The open plan great room uses the length of the villa to accommodate the larger lounge, dining area and kitchen under one ceiling, with stout wood beams crisscrossing overhead. The dining table sits between the kitchen and lounge, a large dining table with ample seating for mealtimes. A breakfast bar with seating for two also acts as a divider between the kitchen and the rest of the great room. The fully equipped kitchen has been supplied with modern appliances and can cater to any culinary desire that it might encounter. The skills of a private chef can maximize its potential to stir the taste buds to life in the form of mouth-watering Italian cuisine, all in the comfort of the villa.
The simple yet comfortable furnishings of the bedrooms are in keeping with the style that the rest of the villa follows; homely, warm and welcoming. Uncluttered spaces that allow the mind to unwind and relax are filled with luxurious beds and bedding; sinking into the sheets at the end of a long day are a joy and guarantee a refreshing night of restful sleep.

Part of a family owned estate, the surrounding lands are filled with a plethora of wonderful natural sights and areas to explore, as well as offering a wide range of activities for guests to enjoy on the estate, including yoga, massage therapy, trail hiking and more. The location, while secluded, is not far away from the sights and sounds of Italy’s remarkable culture. Nestled between Florence (150km) and Rome (200km), two of Italy’s most popular hotspots for tourists, there’s plenty in between to see and do. Lake Trasimeno (48.6km), Italy’s fourth largest lake, contains many lakeside restaurants and shops, as well as being a prime spot for several activities including sailing, fishing and swimming, and perfect for nature walks, as the area is relatively untouched and well conserved.
Perugia, the nearest city, is ancient, and a major center for both archaeological and medieval history, and museums and art galleries abound, as well as ancient structures that stood the test of time. Umbria Jazz, a festival in mid-July, lasts for 10 days and nights, chock full of concerts and performances. A festival of chocolate is held every year in autumn in the city as well, known as Eurochocolate, which may be influential in deciding a date to visit.
