Very private and impressive, modern, and luxurious, Villa Ciel d’Azur (CIE) is a dreamy place to stay in Anse des Cayes, overlooking Anse des Lezard. The luxury rental property is a paragon of St. Barth style, with high-end furnishings, art, and a few playful decorations. The side of the house that faces the ocean is practically made entirely out of glass, giving the rooms beautiful views of the water, and of the blue skies of its name.

With six bedrooms of different sizes and configurations, Villa Ciel d’Azur is a good island home for a multigenerational family or a group of friends traveling together, some of them with children in tow.

The main level of the villa has the kitchen, dining area, living area, fitness room, and massage room with a small jacuzzi. Also on this level, the terrace has a heated pool with an ocean view, chaise lounges, and a convivial barbecue and sitting area.

Two staircases descend from either side of the living area. They lead to a lower level with four bedrooms, a TV room, and a game room in the back. Bedroom 1 is on the level above and has a private terrace. It is reached via indoor stairs. Bedroom 2 is also on the top level with a private terrace. This room is accessed from the outside, and it also has a small kids’ room with two bunk beds. Each of the bedrooms has an ensuite bathroom.

The western side of St. Barth’s holds Gustavia, the capital of the island; a short drive from the villa, Gustavia hosts plenty of shops, bars, and restaurants, to allow guests to have their fill of retail therapy, experience the nightlife, sample the local cuisine, and for those with a keen interest in the past life of the island, explore some of the distinctive histories of St. Barth’s - a good place to begin would be Gustavia itself, where the influences of past ruling countries still remain today; Fort Karl, a former military outpost, was left by the Swedish to protect the island in the 1700s. The small size of the island also makes many of its finest features even more accessible; this makes it easy to explore in a matter of a few days.
