The nearby Les Baux de Provence, known locally as Baux, is designated as one of the most beautiful villages in France. The hilltop ruined castle, narrow cobbled streets, stone walls, and houses combine to create an extraordinary town. The views are stunning.

A little further from your beautiful Villa residence is the medieval city of Avignon, a vibrant and modern city with a unique history. For many years it was home to the Papacy, which had decamped from a somewhat turbulent Rome. The old Palace of the Popes is still here. Also, the remains of the 12th Century bridge over the Rhone that gave rise to the childhood song 'Sur la Pont D'Avignon' can be toured.
Go directly to Les Halles in Avignon to pick up delicious lunch and dinner ingredients. Six days a week, this market is packed with merchants and farmers selling fresh meat, fish, seafood, vegetables, fruit, and olives. It's the one-stop shop for everything you might need for a sumptuous feast.
