This lovely area of Italy sits between Rome and Pisa, offering expansive, breath-taking views of the islands of Giglio and Elba. Highlights of the area include the unspoiled fishing village of Castiglione Della Pescaia, endless stretches of dreamy sandy beaches, and the medieval cobble-stoned village of Massa Marittima – lately becoming more and more popular and home to many international artists and socialites. Also worth a visit is the magical and mysterious city of Volterra, with its roots in three thousand years of history. We also strongly recommend visits to the towns of Populonia and Baratti, Suvereto, Campiglia Marittima, Castagneto Carducci, Bolgheri, and the chic harbor of Punta Ala. Boat rentals for cruising around the coast and private tours of the region's many acclaimed wineries can be arranged through our concierge.

• Trattoria Toscana - Traditional Tuscan cuisine based on regional products, as well as excellent seafood, interpreted by Alain Ducasse with simplicity and authenticity. Not suitable for children. Tenuta La Badiola, Località Badiola (Castiglion della Pescaia) - +39 056 494 4800
• Vittorio (Seafood specialties) - Located at Puntone’s marina. A very good seafood restaurant with outdoor tables and a sea view. Suitable for children. Entrées are particularly tasty, as well as the fried small mullets (frittura di trigliette). Puntone - +39 0566 866 164
