By Air


Clayton J Lloyd International Airport (IATA:  AXA. ICAO: TQPF) is Anguilla’s only airport.  Anguilla is 16 miles long and less than four miles at its widest point.  So, when you land at this airport, you are only a short transfer distance to wherever on the island you might be staying.


Scheduled Airlines that fly in/out of Anguilla

Air Sunshine: Dominica – Douglas-Charles, San Juan, St Maarten, St Thomas.

Blowing Point Terminal is the ferry point on Anguilla’s southern coastline with a good road network to take you anywhere on Anguilla.

If you are wondering how to get from St Maarten to Anguilla by sea, here are some of the scheduled and charter boat options for you to consider.  There is a French side (St Martin) and a Dutch side (St Maarten) to this island, and both offer a ferry port that serves the Anguilla route.

Island Hopping


If you are wondering how to get from Anguilla to St Barts, the best recommendation is by air.  Scheduled flights take no more than 10 minutes.  If you prefer to run your own timetable, there are a number of charter air services that can take you on a very scenic route across the nearby islands.  Although a crossing by sea is possible, the passage is notoriously rough and not very comfortable for vacation day-trippers.

The easiest island-hop from Anguilla has to be to St Martin / St Maarten.  Twenty-five minutes by ferry, you and your group can enjoy some excellent retail therapy, a gorgeous beachside lunch, or a historical stroll around this French/Dutch island.


Important Traveler Information


Anguilla is a British Overseas Territory.  A visa is not required to enter Anguilla, but you do need a passport that is valid for at least 6 months.  You also need to have confirmed accommodation in Anguilla for the duration of your visit.


Local Taxes


Travelers departing from Anguilla Airport or Ferry Terminal are required to pay a departure tax, the amount of which depends on whether you are departing finally or departing on a day trip to another island.

Local Currency


The East Caribbean Dollar is the local unit of currency, but you will find that the US Dollar is not only accepted but welcomed pretty much everywhere.  Credit card payments are accepted in larger establishments, but it’s advisable to have cash for smaller restaurants or bars.
