Another event to note on St. Martin is the Beaujolais Nouveau. This is an annual wine tasting event that is held in bars and restaurants to celebrate the release of this young wine on the third Thursday in November. It originates in Paris and 60 million bottles of this new vintage are distributed worldwide each year. Vintners and distributors around the world work quickly to get their hands on some and release to the bistros and the bars of the world. Beaujolais Nouveau is typically meant to be consumed within the first year of release and is certainly not a wine that is intended for aging.
